the rose bowl

so, since we live in pasadena, we were excited to be able to make a trip to the actual rose bowl for a game. it was ridiculously hot, loud and an obnoxious climb to our seats (we sat at the top row...but we were in the shade)...all in all it was a fun adventure. and fresno won! not that we were really cheering for a team.

myka. crashed.

finally friday

so our stay-cation week has been great for Matt and Myka...I've been a little busy with work (obviously, no posts) but I've tried to get as much rest as possible at the same time. This week we did however take Myka to the park for her first ride on a swing...although she's too small for the sit alone ones, she had a great time swinging with daddy. And Matt actually read a novel. I think his words were "it was so nice to read a book without a pencil in my hand and a dictionary nearby". I'm so glad this week has been restful for him. I think I'm rejuvenated more just knowing that.

Tonight we have respective girls/guys night with some friends...and tomorrow we head to the rose bowl for our first UCLA vs Fresno State game...I'm told Fresno is supposed to win?!? I'll post some pics tomorrow!

where's myka?

myka was playing and when i came back into the room this is what i found.

where's myka??

she's very into peek-a-boo right now.

stay-cation weekend

yesterday was a rest day.
in the morning we walked to target...got a birthday present for our friend Micaiah who turned 2...and enjoyed the wonderful LA weather at his birthday party yesterday afternoon. (hopefully i'll have pics soon)
last night was a nice quiet movie night for mom and dad. we watched apollo 13...it was good. my boss used the trailer in a seminar last week, so i've seriously been watching the trailer for about 3 weeks as i tried to figure out how to get it to play in power point.

this morning we stayed in our pjs all morning and made cinnamon rolls and coffee. yummmm.....yeah, there's no counting calories this week.

and then we headed to the mall cause i had some clothes to return for Myka...we found the cutest halloween costume for her...can't wait until she wears it!

we've got church tonight, and another fun day coming tomorrow...hope all of you had a good weekend as well.

dodger night

last night was so fun...although not for the dodgers...
Myka lasted until the 7th inning...although she was a little unsure about some of the fans and the crazy things they like to do. (see picture below with friend Patricia)

Stay-cation

So, this morning I declared the beginning of our stay-cation...it's been a wonderful summer...we went to denver, fresno and pismo...enjoyed plenty of walks...had great times with friends...
but, we did all this while still juggling school, work, internships, and Myka.
So starting today...
(and breakfast did start here...a pasadena favorite...)
we are going to enjoy an entire week + another weekend as a family.
doing fun stuff...spending time together...not having one of us walk in the house, while the other leaves...having dinner with friends that we haven't seen in too long...and enjoying some rest.
...before it all starts again (the joys of the quarter system) on Sep 29.
so stay tuned...i hope to post lots of fun pics...
and the adventure continues tonight, as Myka goes to her first Dodger Game!

yearbookyourself.com

we needed some humor today...and Matt found this ridiculous website where you insert a photo and it gives you a year book picture anywhere from the 1950's to 2000...
this is Matt in 1956...
and here i am in 1960...
what do you think? did we miss our era?

not typical of me, but i read this and thought i would share...

it's been really hard for me to listen to conversations and read what people are posting when it comes to the presidential race....Jim Wallis posted this on his blog today...

"Let me suggest "Five Rules of Christian Civility."

1. We Christians should be in the pocket of no political party, but should evaluate both candidates and parties by our biblically-based moral compass.
2. We don't vote on only one issue, but see biblical foundations for our concerns over many issues.
3. We advocate for a consistent ethic of life from womb to tomb, and one that challenges the selective moralities of both the left and the right.
4. We will respect the integrity of our Christian brothers and sisters in their sincere efforts to apply Christian commitments to the important decisions of this election, knowing that people of faith and conscience will be voting both ways in this election year.
5. We will not attack our fellow Christians as Democratic or Republican partisans, but rather will expect and respect the practice of putting our faith first in this election year, even if we reach different conclusions."
